eight things you should know about me before anything else

Updated: Jan 17, 2021

Hello hello, my name's Hannah. Artist, entrepreneur, and now, blogger! It really has been a rollercoaster this last year and I think it's only best if we start this soul project out on the right foot. You might have stopped by to listen to my songs on the street, maybe we exchanged business cards at an expo, or you saw me on the Transfort commercials playing around campus. (oh the talent!) However our paths crossed, I am so excited that it lead you here so that we can get to know each other. So like I was saying, hi. How's it goin'? You come here often? You should and you know what? Now you will because here are eight things you should know about me before anything else.

i: name

My name is Hannah Adel Garcia, I use pronouns she/her/hers. I identify as a proud queer, Chicano (Mexican/ American), woman. I believe in energy and the universe and I'm not sure what that means yet. I am currently working towards a bachelor's degree in theatre and want to create art that reflects life into different perspectives. Some topics might come up in blog posts that might be uncomfortable for some. Please try to understand why there is a need for that particular article. Know that my intention is never to hurt any party, but to educate and make myself heard. There is still a lot that I have to figure out and what better time to do that than in your twenties? Glad you're on this journey with me.

ii: i definitely read way too many YA novels in my preteen years

The authors that write young adult novels are the kind of people I closely associate with. When I was in middle school, I would reach for the next John Green book or the next book in the Percy Jackson series, I could live in these worlds. Everything is laid out for you, there is a rush of adrenaline in the action scenes, a little bit of romance, everything you could want in your own life. Now that I am blossoming into a human adult, I can still feel those themes in my everyday life. The sense of mystery and adventure mixed with the excitement of trying new things can really make or break you. The stakes are just higher in real life than in books, I guess. But I do tend to be one hell of a romantic.

iii: aquarius sun + taurus rising + gemini moon

I know, I know, I heard a big "oof" just as you read that. It's not as crazy as it sounds. We'll get more into reading birth charts and astrology later on but your sun sign represents your "basic personality". This can be a little bit deceiving because some people are more in tune with their emotional self (that's me. I am some people). This means that their moon sign might be more in tune with some of their behavior patterns. A rising sign is meant to be the mask you put on for people, or how you want them to see you. So I have a lot of stereotypical attributes of an Aquarius with a lot of Gemini emotions (which, yes, can get messy), all wrapped in Taurus/earthbender vibes. Nice to meet 'cha!

iv: a passion for learning

One of my guilty pleasures is watching How It's Made because you never really realize how much energy goes into making things that we see in everyday life. One of the biggest issues in today's youth is that the school system was not designed to improve learning, but memorization. So many ideas are just taken at face value because there isn't a want to use critical thinking and dive deeper into the subject. Learning is a human drive that should be practiced daily, and that is one of my goals with this blog. Hopefully, you learn something along the way too!

v: national parks are where it's at

The number one thing on my bucket list is to visit every US National Park. My Poppop would take us to a new one every year when we were younger, sharing the stories of the land with us. This passion grew into a love for hiking, camping, backpacking, and the like. Some of the best experiences I have had came from a connection with nature. National Parks have done a fantastic job of protecting and preserving some of these ecosystems and creating a way to promote positive engagement with these lands.

vi: pretty nonverbal communicator

I've learned over the past couple of years that I am a lot better at communication when it is not reliant on speech. I've tried doing YouTube, podcasts, acting, I think by this point I've decided that I'm more of a background worker. I love being able to help a production get to its absolute best. I can definitely do my best work off stage. This is one of the main reasons I decided to get on here and start this blog. It has the potential to be a lesson in mindfulness if nothing else. Personal communication is something that I will always strive for because as you know, Communication Saves Lives.

vii: bouncing hobbies

Since I was young, I don't remember really settling on one form of artistic media. I have always been drawn to music, arts, crafting, media production, the works, however; I always seemed to find the next thing fairly quickly. This has made my experiences vast and unbordered. Right now I might be selling candles but as the seasons come and go, I will most likely take up many more crafting endeavors, and if they are of interest, to the shop they go!

viii: building relationships

The most important thing we can do is take care of our fellow humans. I think it's so funny to

see how everyone lives their lives. I always try to walk away from a conversation with more empathy and information than I had before. Everyone is going through something you can't even imagine, have some empathy, and take care of your friends.

There you have it, a few fun facts on the one and only, Hannah Adel. Make sure to follow us on Instagram to get the latest updates to our shop and the most recent projects. There's a lot of fun projects coming up!

peace, hanz
