“This is your year”. You’ve heard it before, year after year. But 2022 is no different, hell, why can’t they all be your year? The moon is starting off the year in Saggatarius which means that it may be easy to get lost in the dream of the year to come. Don’t get stuck in the self-deception of what could be or what has been and put that energy into making yourself the best person you know. This starts with two things, mindset, and consistency. Both of those things are hard as hell, let’s not pretend they aren’t.
This year I’m dedicating my time to filling my time and heart (and stomach) with things that make me look good, feel good, and do good. This includes physical and mental self-care. Taking care of your mind is just as important as taking care of your physical body and life demands (such as work and other “adult” stuff). In today’s day and age, everyone is so focused on productivity and getting things done, sometimes we forget to do the little things in life that lead to bigger issues down the line.
To start off 2022, let’s challenge ourselves to be the best at our most basic human functions. Let’s eat what makes us feel happy inside and out and let’s invest time in our bodies. Follow along with the phases of the moon and see how your energy shifts through these cycles. A cute way to decorate and to track the full moons of this upcoming year is with our 2022 Lunar Calendar. A great gift for any spiritual and astrological friend.
My birthday is at the end of this month and I want to look and feel my best jumping into 23. This means I’ve gotta start treating myself like an adult. I need to take accountability for my life so I can become the person I want to be. This is going to be a new thing I’m trying and would love to see how you are following along or your own self-care journey. I ask, can you finish the Hanz 28 day Challenge?
Healthy Eating
Feeding yourself as an adult can be tough, especially if you’re always on the go. With the help of one of my fitness apps, I was able to see that my body needs about 2500 calories every day. My go-to is snacks. I'll make sure that I'm loaded up on lots of grab-and-go items if I'm going to work. At home, we've been sticking to a lot of easy recipes that involve pasta or rice. for Christmas I just got a cast-iron Dutch oven then I'm excited to break out and try new recipes in.
Daily Exercise
Whether you get your blood pumping at a membership gym, in the great outdoors herself, or next to your work desk during a break, regular exercise throughout the week can strengthen your cardiovascular system, muscles, and give you more energy in the long run. Every day, I schedule a time in which I can get to the gym for at least an hour. If a day comes where I’m not able to get there, I’ll pull out some specified at-home workouts that require no equipment. You can use this cute little chart to help plan your workouts.
Start and End my Day with Me
Life can change day to day and honestly, not every day is the same. I like to start and end my day the exact same way regardless of what happens. In order to be more productive and efficient during the day, I’ll make sure to include breakfast and daily hygiene. This has rewired my brain to accept that once this is in motion, we are starting our day. It gets me in the mindset to crush the day. It also works for ending the day as well. Since I work until early in the morning, it can be harder to reset my internal clock and actually get to sleep after work. By sandwiching my day between self-care and acts of love towards myself, I am training my body and my mind to make myself my priority. And that’s the energy we need in 2022.
Work-life balance
In order to stay alive, I suppose I’ve gotta work a job. A work-life balance especially in today’s day and age in which your productivity levels are equivalent to your worth in a company. They want you to give all of your time and energy for a minimum wage position and I am no longer making my purpose about someone else’s company. It’s time to put the power back in our own hands. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not going to “not work hard” at my day jobs, but instead, I’m going to stop overachieving in places that clearly don’t value me as an employee. I make my own money moves.
On the other hand, that means I'm going to be pouring what energy I do save into my own works. More posts, more content, and more time to work on my own art and brand building. Accountability and better time management will become very valuble assets in this situation and I'm set on making it happen.
Connect with Someone
Whether it’s calling your mom or having a deeper conversation with someone at work, connection is the human existence. everyone's a little bit lonely somewhere and everyone craves connection whether it's apparent or not. By investing yourself into the relationships that surround you, you may feel a greater sense of fulfillment when coming back home from your day. throughout the day find Opportunities to make that connection with somebody you might not have on an ordinary day. You could also spend this time reaching out to people you are already close with and letting them know how much you value them in your life. Show appreciation and care for the people that you surround yourself with.
Drink 4-6 cups o Water
Water, water water. The amount of issues that drinking more water clears up is absolutely ridiculous. From aiding digestion to clearing up blemishes on the skin's surface, water is the way to significantly increase your overall health. Harvard Health mentions that a healthy amount of water is individualized but generally a good 4-6 cups of water a day will keep you healthy and hydrated.
Sleep at least 7.5 hours in a 24 hour period (5 cycles)
A typical REM cycle lasts about 90 mins and it’s important to get 5-7 cycles of this deep sleep for the body to restore itself. Going to sleep at the same time every night can help increase the quality of your cycles. Personally, this means that I can’t put sleeping on the back burner. In the long run, the efficiency at which I run on less sleep is not working for me day after day. I am planning to make sleep one of my top priorities.
Keep up with Bullet Journal
This one is a big one because my bullet journal is how I keep track of literally everything in my life. If it’s not a physical reminder of what I’m doing, I may not remember or even come back to it. This also gives me a set time to be some sort of creative, even if that day I’m not feeling it. By creating my own version of a planner, I'm able to customize what sort of continent want to plan and how I want everything to look. It helps me organize my brain in the best way that I know how to do oh, something a typical planner wouldn't allow for. putting reminders in my phone definitely helps, but sometimes the best way to lock something in your mind is to write it down and fill the page with things that make you happy. And that's exactly what I'm going to do during this 28-day challenge
To spice it up every day, I am going to throw in a daily manifestation and task to complete by the time I go to sleep. Either a journal prompt or act of service will be required to finish the task. This portion is optional, but I like to focus on one specific idea throughout the day and complete them with that day’s theme. Everything is working towards who I want to be. This is what 2022 is about. Constant growth and healing. Share your year’s intentions and follow along with this challenge by connecting with us on Instagram!
